Quick answer: From 20 October 2026, petrol costs Rs 381.14 per litre (down Rs 5.16) and high speed diesel costs Rs 389.27 per litre (down Rs 7.69) in Pakistan.

Why Have Petrol and Diesel Prices Come Down?

The Petroleum Division says the new prices follow changes in the world oil market, including Platts prices (the international price of petrol and diesel), import premiums and other import costs. When these costs go down, the savings are passed on at the pump.

Since 17 July 2026, Pakistan no longer waits 15 days to change fuel prices. OGRA now revises them much more often, using an average of recent world prices and the rupeeโ€“dollar rate. This is why prices have moved several times this month instead of just twice. You can read how the system works on our daily petrol price page.

How Prices Moved This Month

This is the biggest single petrol cut in about a month. Most recent cuts were only Rs 1 to Rs 2 a litre.

Date Petrol (Rs/litre) Diesel (Rs/litre)
9 October 398.96 (month’s high) โ€”
15 October 393.86 396.65
17โ€“19 October 386.30 396.96
20 October 381.14 389.27

Petrol is now about Rs 17.82 per litre cheaper than its October high of Rs 398.96 on 9 October. See the full trend in our last 15 days’ petrol price report.

How Much Will You Save?

Here is what the cut means for a full tank:

Vehicle Fuel You save
Motorcycle (10 litres) Petrol Rs 51.60
Small car (35 litres) Petrol Rs 180.60
Sedan (40 litres) Petrol Rs 206.40
Truck or bus (200 litres) Diesel Rs 1,538

Why the Diesel Cut Matters More

Diesel runs trucks, buses, tractors and goods transport. A cut of Rs 7.69 a litre lowers the cost of moving food and goods around the country. If transporters pass on the savings, it can help bring down fares and the prices of daily items like vegetables and flour over the coming weeks.

How Much of the Price Is Tax?

Even after the cut, a large part of what you pay goes to the government. Reports say the government collects about Rs 114 per litre on petrol and Rs 100 per litre on diesel in levies and duties. The biggest part is the petroleum levy. Read more about the petroleum levy on petrol and diesel.

Will Petrol Get Cheaper Again?

No one can say for sure. Under the new system, prices follow world oil prices and the rupeeโ€“dollar rate closely, so they can move up or down within days. If crude oil prices stay low and the rupee stays stable, more small cuts are possible. Keep checking our petrol and diesel price today page for the latest rate.
