Petrol Price in Bangladesh Today (September 2026)
New octane, petrol, diesel and kerosene prices after the Tk 20 increase on 21 September 2026, in taka and Pakistani rupees, explained simply.
Quick answer: From 21 September 2026, octane costs Tk 165 per litre (about Rs 371) and petrol Tk 160 (about Rs 360) in Bangladesh. Diesel is Tk 135 and kerosene Tk 155. Every fuel went up by Tk 20.

Why Fuel Prices Rose in Bangladesh
Bangladesh imports almost all of its fuel. After the Middle East conflict disrupted supplies earlier in 2026, international fuel prices and freight charges rose sharply, but the government held back from passing the full cost to consumers. Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation reported losses of about Tk 22,875 crore between March and August, and before the latest rise it was losing around Tk 89 on every litre of diesel.
The government also warned that keeping prices far below neighbouring countries encouraged fuel smuggling across the border.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan
Even after the latest rise, fuel is still slightly cheaper in Bangladesh. Octane costs about Rs 371 in Pakistani rupees, while petrol in Pakistan is around Rs 390. The gap is bigger for diesel: about Rs 303 in Bangladesh against over Rs 400 in Pakistan.
